Priest's murder was part of wider plot, Warsaw says

Polish authorities said Tuesday that the kidnapping and murder of the Rev. Jerzy Popieluszko, a pro-Solidarity priest, was part of a consiracy that went beyond the three security agents charged with the crime. Frogmen found the body in the Wloclawek reservoir on the Vistula River yesterday.

There has been speculation that hard-line opponents to Prime Minister Wojciech Jaruzelski may have engineered the abduction to stir uptrouble for the government.
