Filipinos swell a procession for editor killed by vigilantes
More than 100,000 people joined a funeral procession in the southern Philippines Monday for a local journalist, Alex Orcullo, killed 11 days ago by a vigilante group linked with the military, police said.
Meanwhile in Manila, the acting military chief in the Philippines ordered an inquiry yesterday into allegations that officers and enlisted men had formed a vigilante group within the armed forces. The group, ''El Diablo'' (the devil), was said to have about 20,000 members in the Army, Navy, Air Force, and constabulary.
