US reportedly urging allies to reject Contadora plan

The United States is urging its allies in Central America to reject the Contadora peace treaty as it is now written, the Washington Post reported in Sunday editions. It quoted unidentified diplomatic sources a saying that special US envoy for Central America Harry Shlaudeman and others have been quietly pressing El Salvador, Honduras and Costa Rica to demand changes in the proposal.
