US says it will leave A-agency if Israel is not recognized

The US delegation threatened Monday to withdraw from the International Atomic Energy Agency if Israel is not recognized. The agency's main aim is peaceful use of nuclear energy, technical assistance to member countries, and international controls to prevent diversion of nuclear material for nonpeaceful purposes. But the week-long meeting that opened here yesterday was expected to be faced with political issues as well.
