Warsaw paper raps proposal for exiling political opponents

A plan by Poland's communist authorities to exile political opponents was criticized Wednesday by the independent Warsaw daily, Zycie Warszawy, which said the deportations could harm the country's reputation.

Government spokesman Jerzy Urban reported last week that legal experts were studying the possibility of forced exile for several years for dissidents. Forced exile would be a break with Polish tradition under communist rule.
