House designates a day to remember 'inhumanity'

The House passed by voice vote on Monday a resolution designating April 24, 1985, as ''National Day of Remembrance of Man's Inhumanity to Man,'' and in particular recalling the Armenian Massacre. April 24 marks the 70th anniversary of the start of an eight-year genocide campaign in Turkey, during which 1.5 million people of Armenian ancestry were killed.

The resolution calls upon the president to issue a proclamation urging Americans to observe the day in remembrance of all genocide victims.
