Monument found in England may predate Stonehenge

Archaeologists studying aerial photographs of parched fields in southwest England said last weekend they have found the site of a circular monument built about 5,000 years ago - more than 1,000 years before the famous Stonehenge monument on Salisbury plain. The site on the banks of a stream on the northeast boundary of Dartmoor was spotted only after water levels dropped as a result of this summer's drought.

It is believed to have been used by sun worshippers and to have consisted of huge upright timbers with bases set deep in the ground.
