TVA cancels 4 A-reactors because of cost overruns

The Tennessee Valley Authority canceled four unfinished atomic reactors Wednesday, despite a $2.7 billion investment, because of cost overruns projected at nearly $14 billion.

The TVA board voted unanimously to accept a staff recommendation to cancel two reactors at the Hartsville Nuclear Plant near Nashville, Tenn., and two reactors at the Yellow Creek facility near Iuka, Miss.
