Plane with supplies for rebels shot down, Nicaragua says
The Defense Ministry of the leftist Sandinista government said its troops shot down a US-built C-47 transport plane ferrying supplies to rebels in the north. The ministry said the plane was delivering the provisions to the ''Dirianhen'' rebel unit in the Jinotega area, about 75 miles north of Managua.
