Republicans living abroad renew fight for delegate status

A contingent of Republicans living abroad vowed Tuesday to renew in 1988 their fight for status as official delegates. Republicans Abroad, an official arm of the party, had persuaded the Republican National Committee last Wednesday to give them four seats at the next convention. But the convention's rules panel killed the move.

About 5 million Americans live abroad. By one estimate, 80 percent of them vote Republican.
