Nicaraguan rebels credited with pressure for elections

Planned November elections would not have been scheduled without pressure from CIA-backed rebels, according to documents obtained by United Press International. Bayardo Arce, a member of the ruling nine-man directorate, made the comments during a closed meeting in May with the Nicaraguan Socialist Party. Mr. Arce also said the National Assembly to be elected Nov. 4 will draft a constitution that will eventually allow Nicaragua ''to mold the judicial and political principles for the construction of socialism.''
