Soviets told that Democrats promise warmer Soviet ties

The Soviet public was told Thursday that the US Democratic Party had promised to improve relations with Moscow and heed the Kremlin's call for ratification of the SALT-2 arms control treaty.

The Soviet news agency Tass reported the choice of Walter Mondale as official candidate without comment, but the Communist Party newspaper Pravda said the Democrats' program followed the wishes of the American public for better US-Soviet relations.
