Evidence of key new quark reported by European lab

The European Center for Nuclear Research has announced that a team of 151 researchers, headed by Dr. Carlo Rubbia, had obtained experimental evidence of the existence of the T (for Top) quark, which it said was one of 12 subunits of particles called hadrons, including the protons and neutrons that make up the nuclei of atoms.

Scientists at the same laboratory, known as CERN, last year discovered the ''Z-zero'' subatomic particle and the ''W'' particle.
