Kim Il Sung returns home after East Europe trip

More than 300,000 North Koreans turned out to welcome President Kim Il Sung home from a 11/2-month tour to the Soviet Union and seven East European nations, an official broadcast, monitored here, reported. Mr. Kim made his entire trip by train.

An editorial by the official Workers Party newspaper Rodong Shinmun editorial , broadcast in part by the official news agency, said Kim signed treaties of friendship and cooperation with East Germany and Bulgaria during the trip.

Kim visited the Soviet Union, Poland, East Germany, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, and Romania. All but Yugoslavia are members of the Soviet-led Warsaw Pact.
