De Lorean judge discloses jurors got critical report

The judge in the John Z. De Lorean trial disclosed Tuesday that Rep. Don Edwards (D) of California had sent jurors copies of a report highly critical of undercover FBI operations.

US District Judge Robert Takasugi, obviously concerned about the effect on the trial, summoned attorneys outside the jury's presence to discuss the development.

One of the key issues in the De Lorean case is the undercover ''sting'' operation that resulted in Mr. De Lorean's arrest. He is charged with conspiring to distribute $24 million worth of cocaine in a plan to save his auto manufacturing business, headquartered in Northern Ireland, from failure.
