Cuba adopts a policy of universal military duty

All Cubans must spend one Sunday a month in military training exercises to prepare for ''possible direct aggression'' by the United States, the official Cuban press agency Prensa Latina has said.

The Prensa Latina dispatch, received here, said the exercises were ordered ''in the face of the growing threat by those who rose to power in Washington with President Ronald Reagan as their center.''

All Cubans, it said, will receive training in ''defense theory'' and rifle and machine-gun practice. The agency also said Cubans will dig trenches, build underground shelters, and learn to camouflage military equipment.
