Mondale seeks to get US out of Central America

Democratic presidential candidate Walter F. Mondale called Tuesday for an end to US military exercises in the region and immediate negotiations seeking withdrawal of all outside forces.

''If Mr. Reagan wants a military solution, he will end up committing our country to direct military intervention,'' the former vice-president said in a speech to the World Affairs Council.

''There is only one conclusion,'' Mr. Mondale said. ''Mr. Reagan's failed policies are leading us toward war in that region.''
