Weinberger says NATO to look at new technologies

US Defense Secretary Caspar W. Weinberger arrived here Tuesday for the annual spring meeting of NATO defense ministers and said he will discuss the use of new technologies to enhance conventional weapons.

''We will be working on putting into effect the emerging technolgy initiatives so that we can multiply and increase the strength of our forces by using new technology,'' Mr. Weinberger said.

It is expected the European ministers will stress their nations' contributions to NATO in response to US critics who claim Europe does not provide its fair share of support for the alliance. The Europeans, officials said, would also discuss ways of obtaining a solid share for European industries in the introduction of advanced technology to boost the effectiveness of conventional arms.
