US to continue arms aid to South Koreans . . .

The United States will continue to provide military aid to South Korea to deal with what it calls the North Korean threat, according to a communique issued Thursday at the end of a two-day meeting.

Talks between the two countries were led by Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger and his South Korean counterpart, Yoon Sung Min. Mr. Weinberger told reporters that Washington would provide $230 million to South Korea in foreign military sales credits this year, compared with $185 million in 1983.

The delegations said the North Korean military buildup was a threat not only to the security of South Korea, but to peace and stability in Northeast Asia.
