Hart bests Mondale for Utah delegates

Sen. Gary Hart of neighboring Colorado picked up at least 12 of Utah's 22 presidential nominating delegates at Democratic caucuses, according to preliminary results tabulated Thursday.

With 75 percent of the votes counted from Wednesday's caucuses, it appeared that former Vice-President Walter Mondale would add five delegates to his total, state Democratic officials said. The Rev. Jesse Jackson appeared out of the running for any Utah delegates, receiving less than 2 percent of the vote.
