'Green line' gun battle mars Beirut letup plan

A gun battle broke out on the ''green line'' dividing Beirut Monday as rival factions tried to carry out the final stage of a disengagement plan, security sources said.

The fighting broke out after loyalist Army units and Christian militiamen refused to leave some positions they were to have relinquished under the plan, they said.
