Sandinist heroine rejected as envoy to Washington

A heroine of the Sandinista revolution in Nicaragua who has freely admitted her role as an accomplice in the 1978 killing of a general there has been rejected by the Reagan administration as the next Nicaraguan ambassador to Washington.

In confirming her rejection by Washington, a US official, who asked not to be identified, said the administration felt Nora Astorga would not be an appropriate envoy in view of the 1978 incident.
