Sikh extremists operating in commando-style bands set ablaze 31 railway stations across India's Punjab State Sunday, police said. The attacks, involving as many as eight extremists at each station, came during a weekend of violence in which six people, including a top Sikh extremist , were killed and six were injured.

On Friday, India's largest opposition group called on Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to resign, charging her government with corruption, mismanagement, and creating ''havoc'' in northern India.
