Congress says marijuana is a growing problem

Marijuana production in the US is increasing and the federal government is not doing enough to stop it, a congressional committee said Friday. The report by the House Select Committee on Narcotics said marijuana was now a $10 billion a year crop and second only to soybeans in profits.

About 15 percent of all marijuana used in the United States is grown domestically, the report said. Illegal crops are found across the country, including in Arizona, California, Georgia, Florida, and Hawaii, where it surpasses pineapples as the state's largest agricultural commodity.
