Osaka, Japan, explosions linked to antiairport drive

Two bombs exploded Wednesday in Osaka, igniting fires that injured at least nine people, police said. Both bombs went off in buildings that housed offices of the airport project planned for Osaka, Japan's second-largest city.

Authorities said they believed the bombings marked the start of a campaign by radical groups opposed to a government plan to build Japan's second international airport at Osaka, 260 miles southwest of Tokyo, by 1993.
