Carter TV add description given to Meese in advance

Edwin Meese, who has denied he was aware the Reagan campaign had obtained materials from the Carter camp, was given a detailed description of President Carter's 20-minute election eve advertisement three days in advance, Meese's campaign files show.

Peter Dailey, an advertising man for the Reagan campaign, described the ad, which ran nationally as scheduled, in a Nov. 1, 1980, campaign memo. Mr. Dailey said the ad would include ''approximately three minutes of Henry Fonda setting the stage . . . segments of political types such as (House Speaker Thomas) Tip O'Neill and others endorsing Carter . . . Carter in the Oval Office in a cardigan sweater making a five-minute appeal to voters.''
