Posts reshuffled following Eagleburger retirement

President Reagan announced Friday that Lawrence Eagleburger, No. 3 official at the State Department and one of the country's most experienced diplomats, is retiring to private life.

Eagleburger's departure will cause a reshuffling of top posts in which Reagan will nominate Michael Armacost, currently ambassador to the Philippines, to succeed Eagleburger as undersecretary of state for political affairs.

Stephen Bosworth, chairman of the department's policy planning council, will be named to the Philippines post and Peter Rodman, a member of the council, will be named to succeed Bosworth as its chairman.
