Magazine publisher buys St. Louis Globe Democrat

Jeffrey M. Gluck, a youthful magazine publisher with a history of saving troubled publications, completed purchase of the 131-year-old St. Louis Globe Democrat from the Newhouse Company Saturday.

Documents transferring ownership of the newspaper from The Herald Company, owned by Newhouse, to Gluck, were signed in New York by Gluck's attorney, Peter Herzog.

Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

Gluck, who previously bought the ailing Saturday Review and two smaller magazines and made them profitable, remained in St. Louis to prepare for Monday's editions, the first under his leadership.
