Africa, part one

Land of the red moon, the thorn-eating rhinoceros, lilac hearted rollers, wood hoopoes and water bottle birds, where savannas swarm with topi, reedbuck, eland, and gazelle their swift bodies like sleet against the raging sun, agate-clumps of zebra, black-maned lions sprawl in gongs of light, lean-cheeked leopards prowl, earth fires smoldering in their bellies and the boom of an elephant thunders in stone mountains.
