A Soviet aviation official fired in industry shake-up

The Soviet government announced Wednesday the dismissal of First Deputy Aviation Minister Alexander Nazarov three days after a report appeared saying that the airline industry was undergoing a major shake-up.

The Gazette of Government Decrees said Mr. Nazarov had been removed after serving four years. It gave no reason.

In an article on Sunday, Aviation Minister Boris Bugayev said there had been an investigation into corruption that had led to dismissals. Mr. Bugayev said the entire selection and training department of the state airline, Aeroflot, needed an overhaul. He complained particularly about those chosen to serve abroad.
