Jordan parliament meets for first time in 10 years

Jordan's parliament, suspended by King Hussein 10 years ago, met in special session Monday, unanimously approving a constitutional amendment empowering the King to call elections, a move seen by some diplomats as possibly paving the way for a resumption of the Middle East peace process.

The amendment allows King Hussein to hold elections within two months to fill eight East Bank seats vacant as a result of deaths.
