Central American nations to unveil new peace plan

Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, and Honduras will present an alternative Central America plan at the January meeting of the Conta-dora group, composed of Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, and Panama.

Guatemalan Foreign Minister Fernando Andrade Diaz Duran said the proposal does not include leftist Nicaragua because the Sandinista government presented its own peace proposal in October. He denied Guatemala seeks to isolate the Sandinista regime from the peace process.
