Salvadorean troops attack stronghold in eastern area

Salvadorean Army troops led by elite US-trained battalions have launched an attack against left-wing guerrilla strongholds in one of the biggest surprise raids of the four-year-old civil war. The Army said troops were airlifted to the largely guerrilla-controlled eastern Morazan Province.
