Warsaw Pact nations plan to counter NATO missiles

The seven-member Warsaw Pact has unanimously agreed on plans to counter NATO's scheduled deployment of new US nuclear weapons in Western Europe. The official Bulgarian news agency BTA said a three-day Warsaw Pact meeting that ended in Sofia Wednesday supported Soviet proposals, including the deployment of medium-range weapons in Czechoslovakia and East Germany.

Czechoslovak Prime Minister Lubomir Strougal said the pact's countermeasures would include both the deployment of new missiles and a boost in conventional forces.
