California redwood grove safe - at least till spring

Winter rains and a state appeals court are giving a stand of 1,000-year-old redwood trees a reprieve from the axe - at least until spring. Weather will prevent movement of heavy equipment necessary to log the trees, owned by the Georgia-Pacific Corporation, which seeks to harvest a 75-acre redwood grove between Fort Bragg and Eureka on the northern California coast. And the State Court of Appeals this week ruled the trees can't be cut until it hears the full appeal of an environmental lawsuit aimed at saving them.
