Senior-citizen annual fare on the way from an airline

Eastern Airlines has announced a special annual fare for senior citizens designed to help the company compete with the cut-rate fares of airlines started under deregulation.

The plan will enable those 65 and older to fly anywhere on Eastern's route system in the continental United States and Puerto Rico for an annual charge - set now at $999, but scheduled to jump to $1,199 Jan. 1.

The fare comes with a list of restrictions, including travel to the same destination only three times during the year; travel limited between noon Monday and noon Thursday; minimum stays; and restricted travel during holiday periods.
