Cesar Chavez unveils new tactics for farm workers

United Farm Workers President Cesar Chavez unveiled plans Saturday for a new style of union boycott that will move away from marching at neighborhood supermarkets and leafleting into high technology, mass mailing and sophisticated public relations. The union leader made his announcement at a meeting of farm workers attempting to bargain with a Fresno-based company that operates a citrus ranch near this Ventura County community.

''We're calling it the 'new-tech' boycott because we're going to be using modern technology to publicize when we want to boycott certain products, and we think it's going to work very well,'' Mr. Chavez said.
