Legendary drugstore closing in Hollywood

Legendary Schwab's drugstore, where Charlie Chaplin made his own sodas and starlets awaited discovery, has closed its doors. Owner Leon Schwab said the decision to close the Hollywood store after 51 1/2 years was for ''family reasons.'' But a man representing creditors said the pharmacy was under pressure from them. Mr. Schwab said the drugstore might open again under a new business arrangement, or that it might stay closed. One of the more long-lived legends concerning Schwab's was that Lana Turner was discovered there, although Miss Turner recently said the story was not true.
