Mondale outpolls Glenn in unofficial Florida test

Florida Democrats gave Walter Mondale a clear victory Sunday over John Glenn, his main rival for the 1984 Democratic presidential nomination. In a nonbinding straw poll that wound up a two-day state party convention here, delegates gave Mr. Mondale 35 percent of their votes and Mr. Glenn 17 percent. As expected, 45 percent of the more than 2,000 delegates voted for ''favorite son'' candidate Reubin Askew, a former governor of Florida. Since Mr. Askew is not a nationally known figure, however, the convention was seen as a test of strength in the South between the two front-runners in nationwide polls.
