New Zeland man wins New York City Marathon

Rod Dixon of New Zealand on Sunday became the first foreign male runner to win the New York City Marathon. Geoff Smith of Britain was second. Mr. Dixon's winning time was 2 hours, 8 minutes, 59 seconds. Grete Waitz of Norway won the women's division for the fifth time in the last six years. Her time was 2 hours, 27 minutes. Laura Fogli of Italy finished second in the women's division.
