Job training, health study for vets is OK'd in House

The House has approved a $445 million supplemental spending bill that provides money for the job training of unemployed veterans and for a health study of Vietnam vets exposed to Agent Orange. The bill, approved Wednesday 363 to 30, now goes to the Senate.

Some $317 million is earmarked for veterans programs. The largest amount, $ 150 million, is for a program to provide job training for unemployed Korean and Vietnam veterans. About $57 million is earmarked for research on Agent Orange, a defoliant that was widely used by the US military in the jungles of Vietnam.
