North Lebanon guns pit Palestinian vs. Palestinian

September 28, 1983

Palestinian guerrillas exchanged artillery fire with Syrian forces in north Lebanon after a fierce intra-Palestinian clash in a refugee camp near Tripoli in which up to 17 guerrillas were reported killed. Lebanese officials did not say so, but the Palestinian fire was widely thought to be from Al-Fatah guerrillas loyal to Yasser Arafat, who control the Beddawi refugee camp north of Tripoli.
