The worst drought in half a century, which cut the US corn crop to 4.39 billion bushels, a 48 percent decline from last year's record crop, will mean higher prices at the supermarket next year. Agriculture Secretary John Block predicted Monday that food price inflation for 1984 will be 6 percent to 6.5 percent - up from less than 3 percent this year.
