Reagan policies criticized for hurting US Hispanics

August 25, 1983

A Hispanic group charged that President Reagan's domestic programs are hurting Hispanic Americans, and it accused him of seeking a military solution to the problems in Central America.

The report was issued by the League of United Latin American Citizens, which represents 110,000 Hispanic Americans. The LULAC report said Mr. Reagan had cut funds for bilingual education programs, failed to support civil rights legislation, and appointed fewer Hispanics to government positions than President Carter.
