Striking airline workers press for solidarity

August 15, 1983

Striking Continental Airlines workers are asking pilots and employees of their sister airline, Texas International, to honor their picket lines. About 2,000 mechanics, cabin cleaners, and maintenance workers struck Continental Saturday, forcing the nation's eighth largest airline to cut operations by 15 percent. Continental is owned by Houston-based Texas Air Corporation, which also owns Texas International Airlines. The workers are striking for better pay.
