6 killed in violence during vote in western Nigeria

Six people were killed in violence in western Nigeria during voting on Saturday to elect state governors, Nigerian newspapers reported. The western state of Oyo was worst hit by the violence. Police imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew there starting Sunday night. The clashes occurred between supporters of the National Party of Nigeria and those of the Unity Party of Nigeria, which rules the state. Both sides alleged attempted ballot-rigging and voter intimidation.
