Reagan begins campaign to attract Hispanic voters

August 12, 1983

President Reagan held a pep talk at the White House for Hispanics in his administration. This set the stage for an aggressive cross-country campaign for Hispanic political support over the next few weeks.

Mr. Reagan cited achievements in naming Hispanics to top jobs. Participants said the President stressed a need for open lines of communication to make the Hispanics aware of his efforts to address economic needs and quell communist-backed unrest in Central America.
