Shultz foresees no shift in US Kampuchea policy

June 29, 1983

Secretary of State George Shultz said the US would stick to its present policy toward Kampuchea despite calls for a more active American role in the conflict there.

Mr. Shultz told the Association of Southeast Asian Nations the US would continue to give moral, political, and diplomatic support to noncommunist leaders of the Kampuchean coalition opposed to the presence of up to 180,000 Vietnamese troops in the country.
