Green

June 27, 1983

Green is an apple, an olive, a lime So sour I squint my eyes every time. There are many different kinds of green, Now let me tell you what I mean. There is olive, chartreuse, forest and kelly, The bright green of lettuce and peppermint jelly. The green of the trees and the green of the plants And the green of the grass on the knees of my pants. You might think this poem is not very keen But what do you expect from a color like green? Green is not one of my favorite shades But I'm writing this poem to keep up my grades.
