The nuclear weapons freeze is unrealistic, says Soviet dissident Andrei Sakharov. He warned the United States that resolve to build the MX missile might prove necessary to force Moscow into true disarmament. In a letter made public Wednesday, the Nobel Peace Prize-winning physicist said that avoiding nuclear war may depend on the West's showing determination to prolong the arms race and catch up to the Soviet Union's arsenal strength.
